Now that NFT (Non-fungible tokens) collectibles are here, it's important for artists to know how to frame their NFTs. But how do you know if your NFT is framed correctly? The answer is — well — it depends, and today I'll go over the most significant factors to consider when framing your digital art.

If you’re an artist, you’re probably busy creating. Whether that’s drawing, coding, designing websites…you name it. But if you’ve recently turned your art into a digital collectible (like in Cryptokitties or Etheremon), it’s powerful to know how to frame your NFT art correctly. There are four main factors to consider when framing your digital art in order to display it appropriately in any frame or medium.

Is it necessary to print and frame your NFT?

Framing is indispensable. It can make or break your art. But how can you tell if it's framed correctly? The answer is — well — it depends. Today I'll go over the most significant factors to consider when framing your digital art.

Framing is all about context. Without context, art isn't very interesting. And you can't get context for free; you have to work for it. If your art is an image of an object in the real world, then the most indispensable factor in framing your art is the object itself, and that means it's hard to frame up a painting or photograph of something that doesn't exist in the real world, like a fantasy creature or a spaceship in a sci-fi movie scene.
But if you are working with NFTs (non-fungible tokens), you don't have this problem because your NFT already exists in the real world. That means the biggest factor in framing your art depends on how much information about its provenance is attached to your NFT, because if you know which unique thing each NFT represents, then you know what kind of context they belong in.

Is it necessary to print and frame your NFT? Yes and no. In fact it depends on the importance you place on your NFT.

4 reasons to frame your NFT

What is framing? Framing is about putting your art in context. It could be the physical frame of a canvas or paper, or even the frame of a window or doorway. For NFTs (Non-fungible tokens), it's more like how does your art fit into the larger ecosystem.
There are many ways to frame NFTs including the following:
1.) NFTs can be framed as collectibles.
2.) NFTs can be framed as digital art.
3.) NFTs can be framed as game items.
4.) Finally, NFTs can be framed as both collectibles and digital art.
The main thing to remember when framing an NFT is that there are other factors involved, so you should consider how you want to position your creation within those other factors. Some of these factors do overlap, so it's not always an either/or choice, but generally speaking, there are some boundaries which you should try your best to stay within whenever possible because these are the most important considerations.
